The Fork Block is a gimmick from Mega Man 4, found in the second stage of Dr. Cossack's Citadel. It is a small block with sharp forked prongs on either side, which frequently shift from the block's sides to its top and bottom, and vice versa.
Fork Blocks were first made available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, and were used in the entries Chomp Man, Bouncy Castle, and Beneath Sand and Rock, as well as the Pit of Pits sublevel "Logan's Runner", and in Null and Void. They were also used in the Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 Judge Application level Space Crusade, in Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered in the New Style version of Everything's Blowing Up, and in the Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero stages Skyhigh Ridge and Null and Void.
Behavior[edit]
Fork Blocks act as solid platforms for Mega Man to stand on, but they keep sharp forks out on either their top and bottom sides, or their left and right sides. At regular intervals they retract their forks and shift them so they point in a different cardinal direction. The shift is telegraphed by a flashing triangle pointing in the direction the forks will point towards. If Mega Man touches these prongs, he will take damage.
By default, Fork Blocks start with their prongs to the left and right, but by setting "dir = -1" in a Fork Block's creation code, it will start with its prongs on the top and bottom.
