- "Most people are scared of heights, but I can handle it. After all, I'm a man of steel... literally."
- ―Hard Man, Make a Good Mega Man Level 2
Hard Man is a Robot Master from Mega Man 3. Built as a collaboration between Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, Hard Man was intended to mine Energy Elements on uncharted planets, before the latter repurposed him for his world conquest schemes.
He appears in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2 as an NPC in Tier 8, standing next to the ladder leading to Bond Man. In Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero, he appears as an NPC inside the Chateau Chevaleresque in Mega City, having initially fallen into a hole that he can't get out of, before eventually getting upright. Unfortunately, by the time Episode Zero's credits begin to roll, he has once again fallen on his face inside the Chateau Chevaleresque. Even worse is, by the looks of things, nobody seems to have any desire to help him out of his predicament.
With the release of the Megamix Engine, Hard Man was added as a premade boss, and he replaces Gemini Man in the engine's Example Game in the fifth Wily stage if the difficulty is set to Hard. His inclusion meant he was available as a devkit boss in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 and Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level. In the latter game, while Hard Man himself is physically absent, he still appears in a reskinned form as the boss of Darkwing City.
Hard Man starts his pattern by firing two fists at Mega Man, which will each change direction once. He will then jump above Mega Man and propel himself into the ground, with the impact creating a quake that can temporarily freeze Mega Man even in mid-air. Hard Man will then pull himself out of the ground and restart his pattern.
