The Press is a gimmick in Mega Man 2. It is a spiked crusher attached to a chain.
Presses were first made available in the devkit for the original Make a Good Mega Man Level, where they appeared in the entry Sunset Siege. In Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered, it also appears in the remade Wily stage Flashback Database.
Presses returned in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, where they appeared in 6 entries, as well as the Wily stages Water Ducts and Reality Core, the Pit of Pits sub-level "Water Test", and in Null and Void. Conveyor Mayhem has a special sideways variant of Press, which also appears in Water Ducts and Reality Core.
Presses are included in the Megamix Engine, and sideways Presses similar to those seen in Conveyor Mayhem are now a devkit gimmick; the first game to use these was Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero, which used Presses in the levels Nocturnal Assault and Temporal Pillar. Both versions of Press appeared in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, in the levels IHOPEIWIN and Deep Sea Break-In.
Behavior
Presses will remain idle at first. When Mega Man gets close to a Press' Y-axis (or X-axis in the case of Side Presses), it will drop down (or forward if it's a Side Press), slowly moving back to its starting position afterwards. Presses also deflect projectiles.
