- "Nyehehe! You really think that I'm still just an imposter? I'm way beyond that! I'm not like some Copy Robot - I'm your shadow! I'm the real deal! I AM you! I was born from the darkness in your heart, and I represent all that is evil within you! I am your ultimate enemy, Mega Man!"
- ―Shadow Imposter, Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level
The Shadow Imposter is a minor antagonist in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, and the central figure of the Goody Two Shoes sidequest. They are a petty-minded Shadow Clone created from a shadow generator Joseph found and later repaired. Upon taking Mega Man's form, the Shadow Imposter seeks to ruin their template's good name by vandalising numerous simulations, leaving taunting messages to him in the form of hidden graffiti. The sidequest revolves around tracking down each of the Shadow Imposter's messages and following them to their next target, before eventually they retreat to their hideout aboard the SS Elroy (Acolyte Joe's former cabin), where they battle Mega Man one-on-one. After being defeated, they are subsequently executed by Overseer, The.
The Shadow Imposter's name and physical appearance will change based on Mega Man's current costume; in-game, their name is rendered as the more specific "Shadow [Character Name]".
Battle[edit]
At the start of the battle and inbetween every attack, the Shadow Imposter briefly runs toward Mega Man in a straight line, before stopping to use one of four attacks at random:
- Fires three Mega Buster shots that bounce off the ground in an arc. Their appearance matches the normal buster shots of the current costume.
- Slides back and forth across the arena while kicking up a total of five enemy projectiles.
- Charge up energy before firing a spread of 12 Charge Shots that fall in short arcs. Like the uncharged shots, their appearance will fit the current costume, but the hitboxes remain the same.
- Jumping after Mega Man three times, creating two small bullets that fall in a short arc every time he lands.
At various HP thresholds, a Shadow Turret is spawned to assist the Shadow Imposter for the rest of the battle; upon reaching 18 HP or less, a Type C turret flies across the top of the screen, and at 8 HP or less, a Type B turret will orbit Mega Man directly. Both turrets fire aimed shots at Mega Man frequently.

Trivia[edit]
- The sound effects used for the Shadow Imposter's buster shots and Charge Shots are reversed versions of Mega Man's own buster sound effects. When playing as either Proto Man or Bass via cheats, the Shadow Imposter will instead use reversed versions of their respective buster sounds.
- When fought in Proto Man Mode, the Shadow Imposter's Charge Shot attack will change to use Proto Man's unique Charge Shot as opposed to the more conventional Charge Shot used by the Proto Man costume.
- The Shadow Imposter is the only major NPC in MaG48HMML to lack a unique mugshot, due to the logistics involved; it would need to match the player's current costume (including Custom Costumes), and most mugshots lack the ability to be easily recoloured.
- In v1.0 of MaG48HMML, the Shadow Imposter's buster and charge shots were the same as Mega Man's regardless of the current costume. Additionally, their skintone lacked a monochrome effect.
