―Dagger Man, Mega Man: Super Fighting Robot

Dagger Man is a tier boss in Make a Good Mega Man Level and its remake, originating from the fangame Mega Man: Super Fighting Robot. He was built by Dr. Wily to assist Proto Man in wreaking havoc, but went on to become a NetNavi after Wily's plan was thwarted.

Make a Good Mega Man Level

Dagger Man appears as the tier boss of Tier 2, having been revived by Wily to impede Mega Man's progress. Mega Man wonders why Wily revived him, citing that his weapon wasn't that good; Dagger Man is offended by this and assumes Wily ran out of ideas, before battling Mega Man.

Battle

Dagger Man's attacks are completely random, much like his fellow tier bosses. He can perform each of the following attacks:

  • Teleports near Mega Man's position. This will always be his first attack.
  • Makes two Flash Daggers that stay still, before they both take off at the same time.
  • Fires an energy slash.
  • Slides across the screen.
  • Fires a Flash Dagger straight up. This will split into eight energy slashes.
  • Teleports five times rapidly in the sky, sending down a Flash Dagger that explodes into two energy waves every time.

Dialogue

Mega Man: Dagger Man? Why did Dr. Wily revive YOU? Your weapon wasn't even that good.

Dagger Man: Wow, RUDE. Also, I dunno. Dr. Wily probably ran out of ideas. Still gonna kill you though. Mwahahaha!

Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered

Dagger Man reappears as a tier boss, but now appears in Tier 3, the Caverns (with Yoku Man taking his original placement in Tier 2). Rather than attacking Mega Man on Wily's orders, he does so out of anger at Mega Man annoying him with puns (and getting kicked out of Dr. Light's Lab for stealing a wallet).

Battle

Dagger Man now follows a set pattern with his attacks, using each one in sequence and repeating them upon using the last one.

  • First creates a stationary Flash Dagger, teleports in the air on whatever side of the arena Mega Man is on, creates a second Flash Dagger on landing, then both Flash Daggers fly forwards.
  • Charges at Mega Man with his head blade, stopping upon hitting a wall.
  • Hops forwards and creates an energy slash, followed by another one and three shockwaves.
  • Teleports above Mega Man while firing up to five Flash Daggers down at him, teleporting after each one. The Flash Daggers create two energy waves that fly out to either side upon hitting the ground.

When his health reaches 16 bars or less, Dagger Man abandons his old pattern and switches to a new one.

  • Teleports to the side of the screen Mega Man isn't on, creates a Flash Dagger, then jumps to the wall and creates another Flash Dagger higher and farther back than the first one. Both fly forwards after a short while as Dagger Man hangs onto the wall.
  • Charges at Mega Man twice; the first time teleporting away when reaching him, the second time continuing until he hits a wall.
  • Teleports to either side of the room, jumps into the air, then fires a 12-way spreadshot of blossom petals. Dagger Man does this three times before moving to his next attack.
  • Fires a red Flash Dagger (internally named "Hyper Dagger"), then teleporting to the other side of the room before firing another one. The Hyper Daggers stop when they reach Mega Man's position, swerve upwards, then create a harmful explosion while releasing four energy waves in each cardinal direction.
  • Jumps onto the nearest wall, then wall jumps between each wall three times before reaching the ceiling and dropping back down, firing Flash Daggers down at Mega Man as he goes. Like before, they split into two waves when hitting the ground.

Dialogue

Dagger Man: Hmph! Where’s the justice? I demand a retrial!

Mega Man: Oh. Okay, sorry to disturb, I’ll just leave...

Dagger Man: You there! Vindicate me! All I nicked was a wallet! Is that any reason to kick me out the lab?

Mega Man: Well, yeah, kind of.

Dagger Man: What do you mean, kind of? Is that some sort of crime?!

Mega Man: Yes? You aren’t the sharpest tool in the shed, are you? ...sharp...Hehehe. Maybe you just need to cut that sort of thing out.

Dagger Man: Shut up.

Mega Man: Hey, I’m just taking a quick stab at your situation?

Dagger Man: DON’T YOU DARE.

Mega Man: Maybe just make a written apology?

Dagger Man: ....that’s actually a good id....

Mega Man: The pen is mightier than the sword, after all. Hehehe.

Dagger Man: THAT’S IT. I’M MAKING PAPER DOLLS OUT OF YOU!

Mega Man: That’s the spirit! Oh wait, he’s actually mad!

Dagger Man: GAAAAAAH!

Make a Good Mega Man Level 2

Dagger Man appears in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2 as an NPC in Tier 5, close by the entrance to A Mega Man for All Seasons. When talked to, he mentions how he took Blade Man's "stupid" wallet, and asks Mega Man not to tell Blade Man where he is.

Trivia

  • Some of Dagger Man's new attacks in Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered appear to be based on moves used by the Ninja ability from the Kirby series (most prominently his wall clinging and Blossom Storm attack).
