The Magnet Machine is a gimmick in Mega Man 3, found in Magnet Man's stage. It is a red electromagnet with a strong magnetic pull.

Magnet Machines were first made available in the devkit for the original Make a Good Mega Man Level, where it only appeared in the entry The Quickening. In Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered, it makes an additional appearance in the remade Wily stage Flashback Database.

It returns in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, where it appears in the entries Chomp Man and Quint Stage, as well as the Wily stage Reality Core, the Tier X stages Nightwalk Castle and The Quickening 2, the Pit of Pits sub-level "Cold Power Plant", and in Null and Void.

Magnet Machines appear again in the Make a Good 24 Hour Mega Man Level entry X Factory, as well as in the same level's appearance in the Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 Judge Application Levels. They also appear in the Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level entry Untested Rush Job.

Behavior

When Mega Man is in the range of a Magnet Machine, he will be pulled towards it. He can also stand on top of it as a solid platform. The magnetic pull will only affect him as long as he is standing in front of the side of the magnet that generates the pull (denoted by a set of suction lines), and will not affect him if he stands on top of or behind it.

The strength of the magnet's pull can be altered by changing the value of the object's "blowSpeed" variable using creation code. It can also be made stronger by increasing the object's image_xscale in the room editor, with longer magnets having stronger pulls.
