The Venus Waterfall is a gimmick from Mega Man V, found in Venus' stage. It is a powerful waterfall that pushes Mega Man away.
Venus Waterfalls were added as a gimmick in the Megamix Engine, and first appeared in the Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level entries Down the Drain, Toad Man's Underwater Sea Lab, and Cascade.
Behavior
Venus Waterfalls work on a set timer, decided by creation code (with the default being a max time of 180 frames). When the timer reaches 1/3 of its max time, a small drop of water will appear. Once the max time has been reached, a waterfall will appear from the same place that the water drop appeared from, and will continue to flow for a while before it runs out and the timer restarts. If Mega Man is caught in the waterfall, he will be pushed downwards, through any solid surfaces, and presumably into a pit. He can avoid this by holding onto a ladder and not moving, or by using Sakugarne or Wire Adaptor.
Trivia
- Following the Megamix Engine's release, Venus Waterfalls became infamous among the MaGMML fanbase for being very buggy, with collision glitches and softlocks occuring very often. Although the object was made more stable for MaG48HMML after the submission period, this redone version would break in the presence of objects that pushed or pulled the player, forcing Down the Drain (which heavily used Fan Fiends) to use the older, glitcher waterfall object.
- The sound that Venus Waterfalls make when they begin flowing in the Megamix Engine comes from the original Mega Man, where it plays when water starts flowing in the third Wily stage.
