The Gravity Lift is a gimmick in Mega Man 9, found in the third Wily Castle stage. It is an invisible field that slowly pulls Mega Man upwards while robbing him of much of his mobility.
Gravity Lifts were first included in the Megamix Engine, and subsequently the devkits for Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 and Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level. The latter game was released first, and the gimmick was used in Space Pipes, Wily Station, and Frozen Lab.
Behavior
When placed in a section, Gravity Lifts will slowly lift Mega Man off the ground, while making him unable to move left or right manually; in order to do so, he must fire in the opposite direction.
The speed a Gravity Lift pulls Mega Man up at can be altered by changing the value of its liftSpeed variable in creation code. Notably, making the value a positive number allows for Gravity Lifts that pull Mega Man downwards as opposed to upwards.
