The Swinging Claw is a gimmick from Super Mario Maker 2. It is a clawed crane that can grab objects, including people who can use momentum to get it to swing back and forth.

Swinging Claws also appear as a custom gimmick in Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero, and appear in the level Twilight Terrace.

Behavior

Swinging Claws hang motionless in the air. If Zero jumps into one, he can build momentum by moving left and right, slowly making it swing farther distances. Pressing the jump button will cause the claw to let go, and it will slowly lose its momentum. A Swinging Claw will reset Zero's jump status the way landing on the ground would, allowing him to airdash and double-jump between Swinging Claws without ever touching the ground.

Notes

  • In Super Mario Maker 2, Swinging Claws have different appearances based on the chosen style. While its MaGMML: Episode Zero appearance doesn't perfectly match any of them, it bears the closest resemblance to its Super Mario World style graphics.
