Costumes return from the first Make a Good Mega Man Level game, however they have been greatly expanded. Instead of simply having one costume purchasable from Eddie, there is now a new shop with over two dozen costumes for sale.

The player can change costumes at any time by going to Roll's shop located between tier 4 and tier 5. Wearing a costume will change Mega Man into the character whose costume he is wearing. This is merely cosmetic, and does not provide any gameplay advantages, besides some of them being able to use alternate weapons.

If Mega Man wears a costume that matches the identity of an NPC, that NPC will disappear while wearing that costume. For example, equipping Hornet Man's costume will make Hornet Man disappear from Tier 3. The exceptions to this are Metall and Joe, who still appear in Tier 10 and Tier 6, respectively. Relatedly, wearing any costume other than Mega Man (with or without helmet) causes Mega Man to appear near Tier 3.

Many costumes provide unique dialogue with certain NPCs. A good amount of them change the sprites for utilities, such as Rush Coil, Rush Jet, and Sakugarne. They still function identically, however.

List of Costumes

Mega Man

DLN-001, otherwise known as Rock or Mega Man, is the main character of the series. Mega Man is the default costume, so he does not need to be unlocked.

Mega Man is capable of using alternate weapons.

Proto Man

Proto Man, also known as Blues, is the brother of Mega Man introduced in Mega Man 3. The Proto Man is purchasable from the start, and costs for 150 bolts.

Proto Man cannot use alternate weapons.

Bass

Bass, aka Forte, is a robot created by Dr Wily who debuted in Mega Man 7. Bass is purchasable from the start of the game, and costs 100 bolts.

Bass cannot use alternate weapons.

Bass has unique dialogue when battling Cheat Man.

Roll

Roll is Mega Man and Proto Man's sister who debuted in the first Mega Man game. Roll is purchasable from the start, costing 200 bolts.

Roll cannot use alternate weapons.

While using this costume, Mega Man takes over the shop in Roll's absence. He can be talked to for a few pieces of dialogue. Roll also has unique dialogue with Proto Man and Ice Man.

Dr Light

Dr Light is the creator of Mega Man, Proto Man, Roll, and many other robots. He debuted in the first game. Dr Light is obtainable by talking to him in his lab after obtaining every energy element from the entries. His costume costs 250 bolts.

Dr Light cannot use alternate weapons. He has a unique sprite for Sakugarne, Rush Jet (which is replaced with Item-2), and Rush Coil (which is replaced with the Proto Coil).

Roll and Mega Man both express distaste of this costume when selected.

Rush is Mega Man's pet as well as his main mean of transportation. He debuted in Mega Man 3. Rush is unlocked by beating Glass Man, Birdo, and The Moon in Tier 10. His costume costs 300 bolts.

When Rush enters a level, "Ready" will be replaced with "Bark, Woof!"

Hair

The Hair costume is simply Mega Man without his helmet. It is unlocked by talking to Knight Man after collecting at least 50 Noble Nickels. The costume costs 600 bolts.

Due to "Hair" being Mega Man, just without his helmet, the Hair costume has all the same powers and dialogue that Mega Man does, up to and including being referred to as "Mega Man". This means Hair can use alternate weapons.

Cut Man cannot use alternate weapons. Rush Coil and Rush Jet are replaced with the Proto Coil and Item-2 respectively. Sakugarne is not replaced, though it has two odd floating dots above it when summoned. Cut Man's 1-ups also have a green background surrounding them.

She is unlocked by beating Cirno, the boss of the Tier 9 level "Misty Lake", using only the Mega Buster. After being unlocked she will appear next to Cirno in the Tier 9 hub, assuming you aren't wearing her costume. The costume costs 350 bolts.

Marisa cannot use alternate weapons. Marisa's Rush Jet is replaced with a broom, different from the one Doropie uses.

Marisa has unique dialogue with Cirno.

Karrot Man

Karrot Man is the avatar of Sprites Inc member Karakato, who was one of the artists who worked on the game. The costume is unlocked by beating 8 challenges, and costs 250 bolts.
