Battan is a gimmick in Mega Man 4. It is a large but harmless grasshopper robot.

Battans were first made available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, where they appeared in the Pit of Pits sub-level "Gutsy"; a Battan also serves as the Sakugarne for the Bright Man costume. They returned in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level in the levels Hopping High Above Danger and Pandora's Parlor.

Behavior

Battans will stand still at first. When Mega Man stands on one, it will start jumping forward, carrying Mega Man along with it. After jumping three times, it will turn around and start hopping in the opposite direction.

The number of jumps Battan performs before changing directions can be altered via creation code; setting it to -1 prevents it from ever turning around.

Notes

  • In all currently released devkits that include Battan, the object is misnamed "objCricket".
