The Boubou is a gimmick in Mega Man 8, found in Frost Man's stage. It is a stationary, easily destroyable barrier primarily meant to serve as an obstacle in Frost Sled areas.
Boubous were first made available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, where they appeared in the entries Snow Man, Rush City, Gigavolt Man, Shovel Knight, and But It Lacked the Depth to Convince Me That This is Really Hell, as well as the Wily stage Reality Core and the Tier X stage Swiss Hotel. It was also used in Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero in Null and Void, and in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level in Pandora's Parlor.
Behavior
Boubous will simply remain idle, taking damage from Mega Man's projectiles and damaging him if he gets close.
Two types of Boubous exist: A weaker thin variant, and a stronger thick variant.
Notes
- The sprites Boubous use in MaGMML2 come from Rockman 8 Famicom, a fangame that recreates Mega Man 8 in the style of the NES Mega Man games. In the Megamix Engine, they use original sprites instead.
