- ―Koopster, excerpt from VLDC9 judge comment for the original level
Swiss Hotel is a Tier X level in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, created by snoruntpyro. It is heavily based on the level of the same name from VLDC9, a level design contest centered around using pre-existing assets from the game Super Mario World. All Special Weapons except for the Mega Buster are disabled during the stage.
Strategy[edit]
The level starts with a series of Spring jumps over pits, accompanied by two Yambows, and three generators that drop Pickelman Bulls into pits. The following room is an upwards ride on Crash Lifts, with Bombiers, Skeleton Joes, Kouker Qs, Nitrons, a Toss Machine, an Elec'n, Rackasers, Pierobots, Jet Bombs, and Hammer Joes (with the former six enemies being invincible) all serving as obstacles. While a Skip Teleporter can be seen at the bottom of the room, it cannot be accessed without cheats, and does not function. The following room consists of Mega Man getting constantly launched upwards by Galaxy Man Portals while avoiding Cutting Wheels and spikes, and destroying Normal Blocks and Boubous to continue through the room.
The next room requires Mega Man to carefully time jumps across Water Blocks to avoid falling in a pit of spikes. At the top of the room is a series of signs that spell the number "1519". This number will be important later in the level. After that room is an area where Mega Man must destroy Chill Man Blocks while watching out for Count Bombs, Brightman Platforms, Flip Platforms, and spikes. At the bottom of the room, Mega Man is teleported to the side that the Chill Man Blocks were on, with his gravity reversed; if all of the Chill Man Blocks were destroyed, Mega Man only has to watch out for spikes, and he is eventually taken to the top of the room, where a door takes him to the next room. In this room, Mega Man needs to make careful jumps across Sparkman Platforms and Top Lifts while avoiding Acid Drops, spikes, and Yambows. Following this is a fight against a Moby while riding Tomahawk Platforms.
After the Moby is defeated, Mega Man must carefully get to the other side of a room with a Water Block right below a spike, with a Metall Dance serving as an additional obstacle. The room after this is a downwards ride on a Tomahawk Platform, where Mega Man must avoid Prop-Tops while a Rounder circles around him. After that, he is taken to a room where he must stand on an X Platform while avoiding Tatepakkan shots. The X Platform on the opposite side of the room rapidly fires Mega Buster shots to the right, and once it has been raised high enough from the left X Platform lowering, it will destroy a V that drops a key, allowing Mega Man to unlock the Key Barrier blocking the door.
In the next room is two Bomb Fliers and a Hover above a pit. Once Mega Man gets past them, he will be able to choose between entering a red door or going through the boss gate. Behind the red door is a room where Mega Man can enter a number combination by dropping down pits labeled with the corresponding number. The correct number combination is the one previously seen in the first Water Block room. If Mega Man enters the correct combination, he will successfully make it to the bottom of the area, where he is greeted by Eddie dropping a Jump Sign, as well as a door leading to a room with an M-Tank and all five Noble Nickels. Exiting this room takes Mega Man back to the beginning of the room with the Bomb Fliers.
If Mega Man chooses to go through the boss gate, he will have to fight Ronrez, with two Guts Lifts serving as additional platforms to help defeat it. After Ronrez has been defeated, a hole is made in the right side of the room, leading to another room holding an Energy Element.
Trivia[edit]
- While the level is heavily based on the level of the same name from VLDC9, it is not a direct recreation; aside from the types of enemies encountered, the MaGMML2 level has several differences from the original VLDC9 level, including the addition of several rooms and the removal of one from the original. A full comparison can be seen here.
