Volt Man is a boss from Mega Man on DOS. Programmed to destroy Mega Man, he works under the supercomputer CRORQ (and by extension, Dr. Wily), and holds one of the keys granting access to the core room of Wily's complex.
Volt Man first appeared as a devkit boss in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2. Notably, he appears the most out of any of the devkit bosses, appearing in the submissions Wily Tower, Gigavolt Man, Poorly Named Level, and Cursor Curse (where he's accompanied by the Cursor spawning Tellys), as a boss in a Null and Void level based on his original DOS level, and three times in the Pit of Pits sublevel "My Cool New Boss Fight". Furthermore, he appears as an NPC in Tier 9 and Tier 10. A modified version of Volt Man known as Volt Man MK2 additionally appears as the boss of the Tier X stage Nightwalk Castle.
As a devkit boss, Volt Man makes an appearance in The Arena. His boss fight from Poorly Named Level also appears in The Mega Arena, and an entire army of Volt Men is also featured at the end of the Mega Arena, as the boss Volt Man the Assimilator.
Like all MaGMML2 devkit bosses, Volt Man returns in the Megamix Engine (albeit with his damage output significantly lowered), and is planned to appear as a devkit boss for Make a Good Mega Man Level 3. He also appears in the Megamix Engine's Example Game, replacing Guts Man in the fifth Wily stage if the difficulty is set to Hard. Volt Man also serves as the default appearance of NPC objects in the engine.
In spite of his popularity throughout MaGMML2, Volt Man's Megamix incarnation has yet to appear as a boss in an official MaGMML game, with him only making NPC appearances in both Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero and Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level. In the former, he can be found in Chateau Chevaleresque in Mega City after Volt Man Factory has been cleared, and can also be seen in the credits, again in Chateau Chevaleresque, standing next to Komuso Man and Quint (the other members of MaGMML2's "overused devkit boss royal flush"). In the latter, he appears as an NPC in the stages Running Down a Drain (where he can be found playing chess with a clone of himself), Scrub City, and Short-Tempered Circuit.
Strategy[edit]
At the start of the battle, Volt Man will jump up to the ceiling and equip his Force Field, then quickly drop down again. He will then jump after the player one to three times and stop to fire his Force Field at the player, with its parts flying off diagonally and an additional two bullets left and right. Following this attack, the cycle repeats.
The most effective way to fight Volt Man is to use the Slash Claw. It defeats him in five hits and also penetrates his Force Field, thus you can attack him even while he's shielded and make quick work of him. The Super Arrow and fully charged Mega Buster shots do significant damage as well, but you will have to wait for him to blast his shield before opening fire, drawing the battle out more.

- Volt Man is tied with Mecha Dragon for the most common devkit boss in MaGMML2's entries, appearing in 4 levels.
- Volt Man and Mecha Dragon are also the only two devkit bosses to appear in The Mega Arena with unchanged sprites and AI.
- Volt Man appears in both Tier 9 (hidden in a secret area) and Tier 10. The only other Robot Masters who appear in different areas of the hub are Toad Man (who appears in the main hub and, occasionally, the Dojo) and Solar Man (who appears in the main hub and Tier 7).
