It is your destiny! This article contains content on an upcoming game. Beware of any potential spoilers!
The Magnet Beam (マグネットビーム Magunetto Bīmu) is a weapon from the original Mega Man, found in Elec Man's stage. It allows Mega Man to create a temporary platform made of flickering light, with the platform's length increasing the longer the fire button is held. The weapon's energy will deplete at the same rate regardless of how long the fire button is held down. Thanks to the slipshod physics of the original Mega Man, if Mega Man walks off a Magnet Beam platform (or it despawns out from under him), he drops to the ground at his maximum falling speed.
Make a Good Mega Man Level 3[edit]
The Magnet Beam is one of the weapons voted to appear in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3. Its ammo now drains as long as the fire button is held, and the wonky issues with Mega Man's gravity when using it have been fixed from the original game. Additionally, the platform no longer flickers, instead having a smooth animation and round glowing edges.
Megamix Engine[edit]
The Magnet Beam also appears in the Megamix Engine's Example Game, where it is found in Stone Man's stage in a room that cannot be accessed without the Plant Barrier.
Trivia[edit]
- The Magnet Beam was initially planned to retain its flickering appearance in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3. The poor reception of this appearance led to the weapon's platform being changed to a solid, animated design before the release of the Megamix Engine.
