- "GRAAAAAAAAAH!!! YAAAAAAaaawwwnnn... oh, man, that was the nap of a lifetime. Yo. Didn't think anyone would bother to unseal me."
- ―Nebula Grey, upon waking up
Nebula Grey is a powerful, evil entity who originally appeared as the final boss of Mega Man Battle Network 5. A reimagined iteration of Nebula Grey appears in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3; instead of a program created by Dr. Regal using Dark Power, he is depicted as an ancient, world-destroying alien entity that was sealed away on the Grey Isles 50,000 years ago.
Unsealing Nebula Grey is Dr. Regal's goal during the postgame of MaGMML3, and his search brings both him and Mega Man to the deepest part of the Shrine of Nebula. Regal succeeds in releasing Nebula Grey, but shortly after awakening, it is revealed that after learning of human culture through radio waves, he significantly mellowed out and abandoned his former ways; thus, he refuses to help Regal due to his changed perception of humans. Nebula Grey is fought as the true final boss of the game, when the Shrine's security systems activate and trap both him and Mega Man, forcing Nebula Grey to burn off Dark Power to disable it for a time. After his defeat, he transforms into a smaller, humanoid form, and can be found as an NPC in the main fifteen Tiers.

Battle[edit]
Pillar of Nebula[edit]
Initially, Nebula Grey is sealed within a huge sarcophagus called the Pillar of Nebula, which will activate a security system that materializes as a giant wisp chained to the sarcophagus. While the latter is largely immobile, the former is able to move freely, and serves as the boss's weak point; it is also the only part of the boss that can deal contact damage. Pillar of Nebula uses a semi-randomized pattern of attacks:
- The wisp drops three blue flames downwards while floating from left to right, before jumping towards Mega Man, producing shockwaves around itself upon hitting the ground. It will perform this attack three times, and is the first attack Pillar of Nebula always uses.
- The wisp spawns four wall crawling projectiles before bouncing around the arena at a high speed.
- The wisp flies directly into the ground, producing ground sparks identical to a Biree Spark on contact. Upon resurfacing, it will fire off two bouncing projectiles.
- The wisp quickly flies towards one side of the arena before quickly dashing towards the other side, dropping several green projectiles. Upon crashing into the other side, two rings of blue projectiles will be scattered, with the first ring moving counterclockwise and the second moving clockwise.
- The wisp flies to an upper corner before diving down, launching three pairs of flames horizontally before flying back up. This attack will continue until the wisp reaches the other side.
- The wisp will drop down to the floor, before flailing around, getting farther from the center and launching blue flames into the air that briefly stop before dropping straight down.
In addition to the basic attacks performed by the wisp, the Pillar of Nebula itself will glow before performing one of several more dangerous attacks:
- The sarcophagus produces a strong wind that blows back Mega Man. While the wind is pushing Mega Man, the wisp will remain in either top corner, firing projectiles with three different colours and behaviors. The red projectiles will move vertically until they reach Mega Man's position, where they will fly towards him. The blue projectiles are fired in varying downward arcs, and will bounce on the ground. Small purple projectiles will be fired in a burst, and will explode upon contact with the ground or Mega Man.
- The sarcophagus will fire purple projectiles that move to random vertical positions, briefly stop, then fly out horizontally. The wisp will remain above the sarcophagus, firing off two projectiles that orbit around itself while flying outward.
- The sarcophagus produces an upward gust, which increases Mega Man's jump height. The wisp will fly down to a bottom corner before dashing, launching two sets of projectiles in a ring formation. The first ring will always have a projectile aimed towards Mega Man. After dashing three times, the gust stops.
- The sarcophagus will fire a Black Hole Bomb in the center of the arena. While the black hole pulls Mega Man towards it, the wisp will fly over it, dropping either projectiles that quickly fall down in a wavy pattern, or blue colored Solar Blaze orbs that slowly float in a circular pattern while being aimed towards Mega Man.
- The sarcophagus will summon up to three enemies, mostly (but not exclusively) from the Mega Man Battle Network series. The possible roster comprises of: Billy, HardHead, MetFire, WindBox, Lark, Drixol, Canodumb, Sparky, Bag Noise, Dust Bunny, Note Otoma, Tuby, Tromby, and Xylos.
Nebula Grey[edit]
Nebula Grey remains in the centre of the arena at all times. His only weak spot is the red core in his chest area, which will occasionally darken and become impervious to attacks for a brief period. He typically deals no contact damage, but his arms will harm Mega Man if they're flashing red. Nebula Grey has a large variety of attacks (some of which are derived from his original Mega Man Battle Network 5 battle, but will use them in a mostly linear sequence.
At the start of the battle, and each time Nebula Grey uses an attack afterwards, Nebula Grey will use Black Prominence: a portal will open in the ground near Mega Man and spit out an arcing stream of flames. After his first healthbar is depleted, the flames will have a higher arc, and once his second healthbar is depleted, the flames will alternate between low and high arcs. Nebula Grey attacks in cycles; in each one he uses two standard attacks (each preceded by Black Prominence), followed by him summoning and using a Dark Chip.
Of his standard attacks, Nebula Grey will use an initial set of six in a random order, though the possible attacks are always the same:
- Nebula Grey shoots a fireball onto the ground, whereupon it chases after Mega Man while leaving behind small flames. Shortly afterwards, he shoots an orb that travels across the top of the screen raining projectiles downward.
- He attempts to crush Mega Man with his fists, sending out explosions in a cross formation upon slamming into the ground. After his second fist attacks, icicles will fall across the stage in a semi-random pattern. The core is invulnerable during this attack.
- Nebula Grey disappears and consecutively summons three Hellflame Serpents, each of which crash down onto the ground, exploding on impact and kicking up a large spread burst of projectiles. If Mega Man is hit by a serpent, he will he afflicted with a confusion effect that temporarily reverses his controls.
- Nebula Grey summons a black hole that moves across the top of the screen, sucking in small debris chunks from offscreen. The debris will harm Mega Man if he touches it.
- He repeatedly summons portals around Mega Man that will shoot lasers in between them, up to a maximum of eight times. The lasers alternate between travelling horizontally and vertically.
- Nebula Grey slams his fists together, sending two circles of orbiting projectiles outwards, each moving in opposite directions. After a small period, he slams his fists down on the edges of the arena.
After using the above six attacks, Nebula Grey swaps them out for a randomised sequence of 12 new attacks, though there are 13 in total that he can choose from:
- Nebula Grey throws up to six meteors from his hands that fly across the screen in a straight line, leaving behind damaging flames. A skull will briefly flash onscreen to indicate where a meteor will appear.
- He summons a series of flame pillars, starting from the edges of the screen, then closing in until they meet in the middle. This last pillar will, from both sides, either shoot small bouncing flame orbs, shoot smaller orbs that move in a wave pattern, or send out flames that travel along the floor. Nebula Grey's core is invincible during this attack.
- Nebula Grey shoots out a small orb that emits a large triangular laser upwards. The laser will quickly rotate 180 degrees, initially going in one direction before sweeping in the other. It will repeat this sweep one more time, but with an inverted version of its last pattern.
- Nebula Grey creates four orbs in each hand, each of which fly down towards Mega Man. After this, he shoots "walls" of three orbs at the edges of the arena, which all fly horizontally across the screen one after another. Nebula Grey's core is invincible during this attack.
- From his chest, Nebula Grey summons up to five cannons one after another. Each cannon shoots a firework up into the air, which falls back down to the ground and explodes in a large circular projectile spread. The cannons can be destroyed before they shoot their firework, but Nebula Grey himself is invulnerable for the attack's duration.
- Nebula Grey snaps his fingers, sending in walls of red and blue projectiles from one side of the screen. The projectiles switch on and off between red and blue, akin to Switch Blocks, and will not do damage when they are off. After some time, Nebula Grey will repeat the attack, this time from the other side of the screen.
- Nebula Grey vanishes, and uses his Thousand Death Hands attack, manifesting as a large flurry of small hands shooting out from the background portal. If a hand grabs onto him, he will briefly lose traction, similarly to a Numetall's glob attack.
- Slamming his fists down on the ground, Nebula Grey summons up to five sparks with a large radius of static around them. The first spark chases Mega Man directly, while the other four rebound off of the edges of the screen. Entering a spark's radius causes a static effect to build up on Mega Man; staying in it for long enough will inflict a burst of damage on him.
- Nebula Grey summons a blue wisp that tracks Mega Man's location and spits fireballs that split into two shots upon hitting the ground. Gradually, he summons two more wisps, increasing the rate of fire.
- He punches the edges of the screen up to four times with one fist, then the other. Each hit against the screen sends debris outward.
- Nebula Grey snaps his fingers, summoning bubbles that bounce in from one side of the screen. At the same time, bubbles will float down from the top in a wave pattern, with each one appearing directly above Mega Man.
- Nebula Grey summons two orbiting waves of projectiles that sweep across the screen. Shortly after, a rewind effect covers the screen and reverses the projectiles back in a different pattern.
- Nebula Grey will smash his fists into the ground, sending out waves of orbs that fly diagonally upwards for a while. The core is invulnerable during this attack.
Whenever Nebula Grey uses a Dark Chip, the core typically becomes invulnerable. Like his normal attacks, the list of possible Dark Chips he can use is mostly randomised from a pool of eight:
- Dark Sword: A dark copy of Mega Man is summoned near him, and swings a large sword upwards. Nebula Gray will always use this Dark Chip first.
- Dark Thunder: A dark copy of Mega Man shoots a purple lightning ball that slowly tracks Mega Man via straight lines. If the ball hits, Mega Man will be paralyzed and unable to move for four seconds, or until he takes damage.
- Dark Lance: The entire floor is covered with harmful purple bamboo shoots that quickly grow upwards before vanishing.
- Dark Wide: A dark copy of Mega Man is summoned and fires three wide energy waves at Mega Man, the second of which is fired from the air.
- Dark Drill: Waves of drills fly across the screen from the side Mega Man is currently farthest from, their locations telegraphed by a flashing skull. Unlike all other Dark Chip attacks, Nebula Grey is vulnerable for the attack's duration.
- Dark Meteor: Summons a rain of meteorites from the top of the screen, continuing even while Nebula Grey uses other attacks. A sign telegraphs where a meteorite is going to appear.
- Dark Tornado: A dark copy of Mega Man appears on one side of the screen and fires a dark version of the Tornado Blow, sending a storm of tornadoes up from the bottom of the screen. If a tornado hits, it will inflict confusion. A skull indicates where a tornado is about to appear.
- Dark Circle: A crosshair circles close to the ground, before leaving behind several crosshairs that explode after a short delay.
- Dark Sonic: Summons a Dark Sonic enemy that persists until it is destroyed. It will inflict paralysis if allowed to play its music.
An extra Dark Chip Nebula Grey can use is Dark Recover, which restores his HP by 28. However, it is not included in his normal attack rotation; instead, he will automatically use it at 18 HP or less, and he will only use it once.
Every three attack cycles, Nebula Grey will summon three random enemies after using a standard attack but before using a Dark Chip. These enemies draw from the same pool as Pillar of Nebula's enemy summoning attack. While summoning enemies, Nebula Grey's core darkens and cannot be damaged.
