Toad Rain is a gimmick from Mega Man 4, found in Toad Man's stage. It is a torrential downpour of rain that blows Mega Man in one direction when he is airborne.
Toad Rain was first made available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, and was used in the entries Airflow Hubble, Chomp Man, Shovel Knight, Poorly Named Level, A Mega Man for All Seasons, Just an Ice Level (where it is resprited to be a snow storm instead of a rain storm), and Cossack's Other Citadel. It also appeared in the Wily stage Reality Core, and the Pit of Pits sublevel "Stormy Ascent". Toad Rain returned in Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero, in the stages Stormy Spire and Null and Void.
Behavior
Toad Rain is used by placing a Toad Rain Control object inside a section; until a new section starts, Toad Rain will be omnipresent. When in effect, a constant rainfall will be in the background, blowing in one direction. If Mega Man jumps off the ground, Toad Rain will blow him backwards or forwards by a certain amount, making it trickier to jump over gaps.
The speed and direction of Toad Rain in a section can be changed by setting blowSpeed in that section's Toad Rain Control object. By default, it blows Mega Man to the left, but making it a positive value will instead blow him to the right. The direction the background rain blows in will match the direction Mega Man is blown towards.
