The Compactor is a gimmick from Mega Man 10, found in the second Wily Castle stage. It is a large compactor that effortlessly crushes anything beneath it.

Compactors were first available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, and appeared in the entries Gigavolt Man, Blaze Man, Cyber Man, and Identity Crisis, as well as the Tier X stage Nightwalk Castle, and the Pit of Pits sublevel "Trash Dash". They appeared again in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, in the stages Cosmological Factory, A Waste of Space, Flamecrush Forest, Oh No! More Compactors, and Pandora's Parlor.

In Make a Good Mega Man Level 3, Compactors were used in the entries Hunter Tower, House of Fun, Radium Man, and Rec Man, as well as the Tier X stage Smashed Into Pieces in a slightly modified form.

Behavior

Compactors move up and down at regular intervals, pausing for a while after moving. Any entities that are between a Compactor and solid objects or terrain will be crushed and destroyed. By flipping them upside down in the room editor, Compactors that move down instead of up can be used.

Compactors have two creation code variables:

  • alarmTime - Sets the number of frames that pass before a Compactor pushes down (or up, if it is upside down).
  • mySpeed - Sets the speed a Compactor moves at.

Notes

  • In MaGMML2 and MaGMML3, getting crushed by a Compactor is needed to unlock the "me_IRL" costume.
