Mad Man is a Robot Master from the fan game Mega Man 42. He is a Robot Master who is very unpredictable by both design and attack. It is assumed he allied himself with Dr. Wily after being freed from an asylum by the doctor. He appears as the Tier Boss of Tier 4 in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3, with an upgraded attack pattern and different arena layout from his original game.

Mad Man is one of the eight Robot Masters Mega Man or Mega Girl (Roll) must defeat to reach Dr. Wily. His stage takes place in an insane asylum, which Mega Man must traverse through rooms with spiked ceilings and various robots to reach Mad Man. His attacks consist of him using the Insane Cannon to fire a burst of projectiles that go in random angles, trying to stomp on the player after jumping high, or even attempting to headbutt using the spiked bird inside his head. He is weak to Sleeping Sand, Sand Man's special weapon, and his Insane Cannon is the weakness of Brain Man.

Make a Good Mega Man Level 3

Mad Man appears as the boss of Tier 4, the Sheriff's Jailhouse. Before the fight, Mega Man is surprised by how eloquent the seemingly mad Robot Master is. Mad Man has been trapped in the boss room due to lacking a working teleporter, and was asking for a passcode from the previous contenders before he fought, with Mega Man being the current contender. After a bit of dialogue, Mad Man snaps after realizing he's been forgotten again, telling Mega Man to help him with his two weeks notice, as he plans to quit after the boss fight.

Mad Man's abilities have been updated in comparison to his original battle. While he retains his original attacks, they have been upgraded, and he will choose each one at random:

  • Mad Man jumps into the air towards Mega Man's current position. Upon lining up with Mega Man, he will immediately come down to stomp on him with spiked boots.
  • Mad Man fires his Insane Cannon towards Mega Man. He will aim towards Mega Man's current position, while the Insane Cannon shots will spread out at random after being fired.
  • Mad Man's top flips open, which he will launch a bird in the direction of Mega Man. Upon the bird colliding with a wall, Mad Man will either retract it or pull himself towards the wall.

If Mad Man uses his stomp attack on an elevated part of the arena, that part of the arena will be forced down, as the other parts will launch upwards before settling on random heights.

After reaching 8 HP or lower, Mad Man will fire his bird upwards, grappling onto the ceiling and pulling himself before the bird lets go, settling on a moving chain. Mad Man will then swing around, firing Insane Cannon shots diagonally whenever he reaches the left and rightmost points of his swinging while moving around.

After his defeat, he will appear as an NPC in the Magic Card Casino.
