"Hornet Racer" is an enemy from Rockman & Forte: Mirai Kara no Chousensha. It is a robot modelled after a hornet.

Hornet Racer was first made available with the Megamix Engine, and subsequently the devkits for all games built with it. The first to use it was Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, but just barely: only one appears in the entire game, in a secret room in the entry Frozen Lab. It fared slightly better in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3, where it appeared in the entries Grassy Plains and Hornet Man got a new Stage.

Behavior

Hornet Racer initially floats in one spot, before quickly charging straight towards Mega Man after a period of time has passed. Once it reaches the location he was in prior to charging, it will fly back up to its original height. By flipping a Hornet Racer's image_yscale in the room editor, it can be used upside down, and will fly upwards towards Mega Man if they are lower than him in a room.

The length of time that a Hornet Racer waits for before charging can be changed by altering the value of the attackTimerMax variable in creation code.

Notes

  • The name "Hornet Racer" is likely derived from that of the bee-shooting Hornet Chaser.
