Octone is an enemy from Mega Man 9. It is an ink-spitting octopus robot with an armoured body.

Octone was first made available with the Megamix Engine, and subsequently the devkits for all games using it. While it went unused in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, one appears there as an NPC in Tier 10.

Octone's proper debut came with Make a Good Mega Man Level 3, where it appeared in the entries The Cave Level That Exists, Mediocre Oil Level, and Irrigation Irritation, as well as in the Contest Weapon Playground, in the NEO Pit of Pits sublevels "Book It" and "They Call Him Flipper", and the Shrine of Nebula room "Defeat the Mecha Spear Man!".

Behavior

Octone is a stationary enemy that hides in its body until Mega Man either gets close enough to it, or shoots the body. When provoked, its head and tentacles will appear and it shoots an inkball at Mega Man, before retreating back into its body. If Mega Man is hit by the inkball, he will be coloured pitch black until either the game is paused, he dies, or the current level ends or restarts.
