- "A Giant Met manning a giant cannon (egads, you don't say?!). It can fire either a large shot, or a homing missile from the back."
- ―Note in Giant Metall Cannon's code, Megamix Engine
"Giant Metall Cannon" is a midboss from Mega Man IV. It is a massive iteration of a Metall Cannon, capable of firing large shots and missiles.
Giant Metall Cannon was first made available with the release of the Megamix Engine, and as such appeared in the devkits for all games made with it. Its MaGMML debut was in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, where it appears in the entries Sonic Man's Spaceship, Outer Excavation, and Wily Station. It went on to reappear in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3, and was one of the most common midbosses in that game, appearing in nine entries, as well as the NEO Pit of Pits sublevel "Conveyor the Message".
Contents
Behavior
Giant Metall Cannons periodically slide up and down their base, occasionally stopping to fire a large cannonball that will either fly straight ahead, or go downwards in an attempt to hit Mega Man before bouncing back up. The only vulnerable point is the giant Metall's eyes, which are covered by the helmet just before the cannon fires. Fortunately, Giant Metall Cannon deals no collision damage, and the cannon can be jumped on to gain easier access to the Metall.
Starting with MaGMML3, Giant Metall Cannon has the option to fire a volley of two homing missiles (exactly the same that Gunner Joe uses) as an alternative attack. This setting is enabled in creation code, where users can make a Giant Metall Cannon fire only cannon balls (the default setting), only missiles, or both at the same time.
