"Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Gunner Joe. Its constant mission: to destroy Mega Man. To use homing missiles and diving attacks. To boldly go where no Joe has gone before!"
―Note in Gunner Joe's code, Megamix Engine

Gunner Joe is an enemy from Mega Man IV. It is a Sniper Joe piloting a small spaceship armed with missiles.

Gunner Joe was first made available with the Megamix Engine, and as such was present in the devkits for all games built with it. The first to use Gunner Joe was Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, in which it appeared in the entries Twilight Fortress and Mystic Museum. It returned in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 for the entries Hunter Tower and Fairly Unfocused Newcomer's Bosses And Gimmicks Stage, and the NEO Pit of Pits sublevels "Did We Forget Something?" and "Nombrellan Corporation Infiltration".

Behavior

Gunner Joes float in place, before swooping down in an attempt to hit Mega Man. After reaching his level, they swoop back up to the top of the screen before repeating the process. Frequently, they will fire a homing missile at Mega Man (provided one they already fired doesn't still exist), which relentlessly pursues him until it is destroyed.
