- "A wall turret that is invincible when it is closed."
- ―Note in Beak's code, Megamix Engine
Beak is an enemy from the original Mega Man. It is a dome-shaped robot with a cannon inside its "mouth".
Beak was first made available in the devkit for the original Make a Good Mega Man Level, where it appeared in the entries Sunset Siege, Sky Ziggurat, Napalm Forest and Caves, Maze of Death, and Citadel Basement. It also appeared in the Wily stage Be the Bigger Person; though Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered removed it from the revamped iteration of that stage, it was added to the redone Wily stage Flashback Database.
Beak returned in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, where it appeared in the entries Colorful Hall, Something Original, MegaLondo, Candy Panic, Orbital Station, Poorly Named Level, A Mega Man for All Seasons, Gunpowder Cellar, and Bond Man. It also appears in the Wily stages Classic Castle and Reality Core, the Pit of Pits rooms "Boobeak Trap", "Citadel Basement Shenanigans", "da ba dee da ba di", "Labyrinthe Throwback", and "MEG4KMAN", and in Null and Void. It also appears in the Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 Judge Application Level Midnight Man, and the Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero levels Recoil Recon, Cursor Corruption, and Null and Void.
In Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, Beaks were used in the entries Megatroid, Flower Core, and Weapon Testing Facility. They also appear as a major obstacle in Gordyn Pressman's cabin on the SS Elroy as part of the Co-Ladder All Damage sidequest, but their bullets are altered to inflict no damage beyond knockback.
Behavior
Beaks remain stationary, but will periodically open their "mouths" to shoot four projectiles in fixed directions. Most weapons can only damage Beaks when their "mouths" are open.
By default, Beaks are red, but setting "col = #" in a Beak's creation code will change its color (1 makes it orange, 2 makes it blue).
