- "It's an upgrade of the Neo Metall from Mega Man 2. It now has feet and can walk."
- ―Note in (walking) Metall DX's code, Megamix Engine
- "They fly up to Mega Man and shoot three bullets down on him."
- ―Note in (flying) Metall DX's code, Megamix Engine
Metall DX is an enemy from Mega Man 3. It is an upgrade of the Neo Metall (which was, in turn, an upgrade of the Metall) with more flexible feet. Some Metall DX are also equipped with a propeller, but there is no name difference between them and the walking Metall DX; as such, both the walking and flying variants are covered in this article.
Metall DX was first made available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, where it appeared in the entries The Fall, Taco Man, Quint Stage, Ruined Lab, Sheriff Man, and Identity Crisis, as well as the Wily stage Reality Core, the Pit of Pits sub-levels "Greenhouse Effect", "Shields and Pits", "Stone Man Rip-off", "Stormy Ascent", and "Tower Climbing", and Null and Void. The Fall, Taco Man, Quint Stage, Sheriff Man, Identity Crisis, "Greenhouse Effect", "Shields and Pits", and "Tower Climbing" only include the walking variant, while "Stone Man Rip-off" and "Stormy Ascent" only include the flying variant; Ruined Lab and Reality Core include both variants.

Behavior
Both variants of Metall DX will hide under their helmets until Mega Man gets close.
When a walking Metall DX is provoked, it will come out of hiding, fire a spread of three projectiles, then walk forward after waiting briefly before hiding again.
When a flying Metall DX is provoked, it will come out of hiding, reveal its propeller, fly above Mega Man, and fire a spread of three projectiles downward. They will then fly downward, after which they will fly either left or right, depending on what side Mega Man is facing.

Trivia
- In the MaGMML2 devkit and early versions of the Megamix Engine, Metall DX used a sound effect shared between various Mega Man 6 enemies when they shot projectiles. As of the current Megamix Engine build, they do not play any sound effects when firing, which is more accurate to Mega Man 3.
- The MaGMML2 devkit and Megamix Engine only use the name "Metall DX" for the flying variant of the enemy. The walking variant is simply labeled "Metall".
