Tatepakkan is an enemy from Mega Man 5. It is a cannon robot with a shield that it raises to attack.

Tatepakkan was first made available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, where it appeared in the entries Starman Recreation, Duwang, Bouncy Castle, and Quarantine Woman, as well as the Wily stages Lever Oriental Enchanted, Inner Sanctum, and Reality Core, the Tier X stage Swiss Hotel, and the Pit of Pits sub-levels "Fragile Tower", "Glass Man?", "Obscure Gameboy Gimmick", "Sandstorm Base", and "Stone Man Rip-off".

Behavior

Tatepakkans will hold their shields in front of their faces at first, only being vulnerable when raising their shield to fire a projectile straight forward or when hit from behind. They can also safely be stood on (a feature carried over not from Mega Man 5, but rather from Mega Man IV).

By default, Tatepakkans are orange, but setting "col = #" in a Tatepakkan's creation code will change its color (1 makes it red, 2 makes it green, 3 makes it a mix of orange and green reminiscent of its appearance in Mega Man for the Game Gear).
