Magnet Beam (マグネットビーム Magunetto Bīmu) is a weapon from the original Mega Man, found in Elec Man's stage. It allows Mega Man to create a temporary platform made of flickering light, with the platform's length increasing the longer the fire button is held. The weapon's energy will deplete at the same rate regardless of how long the fire button is held down. Strangely, if Mega Man falls off of a Magnet Beam platform from it despawning, he drops to the ground at a higher speed than usual.
Make a Good Mega Man Level 3
Magnet Beam is one of the weapons voted to appear in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3. Its ammo will now drain as long as the fire button is held, but Mega Man will drop off the platform at a normal speed, and the platform no longer flickers, instead having a smooth animation and round glowing edges.
Megamix Engine
Magnet Beam also appears in the Megamix Engine's Example Game, where it is found in Stone Man's stage in a room that cannot be accessed without Plant Barrier.
Trivia
- Magnet Beam was initially planned to retain its flickering appearance in MaGMML3. The poor reception of this appearance led to the weapon's platform being changed to a solid, animated design before the release of the Megamix Engine.
