The Z-Buster is Zero's default weapon, used by him in the final battle of Make a Good Mega Man Level and its remake, and as his primary (and, at first, only) weapon in Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero.
As a result of Zero's status as a hastily-built decoy robot, the Z-Buster is a very weak weapon, firing slow shots that do no damage to Mega Man. In Episode Zero, the weapon does as much damage as a Mega Buster shot, can be fired in a 45° angle up or down as well as straight ahead, and up to four shots can be onscreen at a time. Unlike the Mega Buster, however, the Z-Buster lacks a Charge Shot, and its shots move at a slightly slower speed. Unlike the lemon-shaped Mega Buster, the Z-Buster's default shape is the same as regular enemy projectiles, though it will change based on what chip is currently equipped.
Like all of Zero's weaponry, the specific properties of the Z-Buster change depending on which of the five chips are currently equipped; however, it generally retains its niche as a weak weapon that has range and infinite ammunition.
By default, the Z-Buster does one point of damage to all enemies.
Trivia[edit]
- Ordinarily, the Z-Buster is fired from Zero's mouth. If the Original Costume is equipped, however, the weapon is instead fired from Zero's arm cannon.
- Early in Episode Zero's development, the Z-Buster did 0.5 damage by default. It was very quickly buffed to be as strong as the Mega Buster before the first devkit was released.
