Psionic Space Station is a level in Chapter 3 of Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero. Accessed via Tier X, it is a space station that is home to a number of security robots and traps, chiefly Securans, their sentries, and wall-mounted laser cannons that fire at frequent rates. The psychokinetic Robot Master Psionic Man also dwells here, and will send enemies and hazards to stop Zero as he approaches his lair. Amidst all this, a very simple moving platform gimmick spices up platforming throughout the stage.
Strategy[edit]
After a long drop to the bottom, Securans and their sentries will be seen hovering near Space Platforms and Wall Blaster IIs. Getting spotted by a sentry's light will mean trouble, as all onscreen Securans will shoot lasers straight at Zero no matter where he is. The Z-Burst can effortlessly clear out a screen of sentries thanks to their low durability and the weapon's wide coverage, which helps in the next few screens as the sentries become more spread out. Boostuns and New Shotmen will also try to attack from afar, with the former's missiles doing considerable damage. At the top of a short tower of Securans, a Cannopeller floats in front of a ladder leading to a small room with a CD and an E-Tank. Getting both, however, is impossible without the Double Jump due to a pit of spikes nearby. Even then, timing the jump is tricky, though equipping the Psycho Chip gives a little more reaction time thanks to its low gravity.
Be careful going downwards, for a bottomless pit lies below the Space Platforms. After a battle with a Hyoey, the first (useful) checkpoint of the level will be reached; beyond it are the introductions of G Cannon Heads, which fire lasers at regular intervals. Next is a large open area combining G Cannon Heads with the pre-established enemies and gimmicks. A single Shield Guarder blocks what is intended to be a one-way passage, but with risky use of the Z-Saber (or the Icicle Chip's Blank Drive) Zero can kill the Shield Guarder and bypass the upper route entirely. The level's second CD also lies in plain sight here, but can be tricky to get to from the upper path. Several cannons later, and another Hyoey is encountered; this one in an arena with two pits and a G Cannon Head firing downwards. Defeating it opens up the path to the next checkpoint.
Not much time is given in the next section, as a set of Closing Doors slowly rise up/fall down in an effort to crush and/or entrap Zero, with a handful of enemies trying to slow him down. After surviving this, the last challenge of the stage is a long elevator ride. Frequently, two laser cannons will teleport in and attack Zero; one near the top of the screen that tracks him three times, firing lasers each time, while the other charges a laser while tracking his current height, stopping just before firing. Once both go away, the elevator stops as a group of enemies are summoned, all of which need to be killed for the elevator to keep going. First, four Boostuns are called in, while the second time, two Hyoeys appear. After a third cannon barrage (in which an airdash is needed to avoid two cannons), the elevator reaches the top of the space station, with a single Dachone standing guard outside the boss door.
Z-Phone Dialogue[edit]
Trivia[edit]
- Psionic Space Station is (very loosely) based on Orbital Station from Make a Good Mega Man Level 2. The long drop at the start of the level is also based on Objective: Vain Space from the original Make a Good Mega Man Level.
