Bosses are an integral part to the Mega Man series, and in fact, any video game at all in general. It as such comes as no surprise that the MaGMML series has had a massive amount of bosses, though they only gained a true presence with Make a Good Mega Man Level 2 onwards. For the MaGMML games, bosses are generally split into several categories:
- Devkit bosses, meaning that the boss was a default option available for use in the contest's level-making kit. However, not all of these are used as intended in the final game, so some go unused beyond appearances in The Arena or similar modes.
- Entry bosses, meaning that the boss appeared custom-made for an entry.
- Tier bosses, meaning that the boss appears in a separate area to cap off of any of the various Tiers in the game.
- Fortress bosses, meaning that the boss resides in a MaGMML game's Fortress.
- Postgame bosses, meaning that the boss can only be fought once the main 'campaign' of the game is completed, usually in some kind of secret area.
- Other kinds of bosses also appear, such as Arena bosses, but those bosses are small in number and as such aren't much of a category.
