Revision as of 03:43, 6 June 2021
The Megamix Engine is an engine created during development of Make a Good Mega Man Level 3. Acting as the engine for both it and Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, it was created as a robust engine for aspiring fangame creators. As such, it includes almost every enemy from the 8-bit games (and even a few from the 16- and 32-bit games), a diverse range of bosses, gimmicks and weapons with different abilities, a shop system, and an example game made with default assets in the engine.
The Megamix Engine was publicly released in Open Beta on July 11, 2018. Its first official Ver. 1 release was made on September 15, 2018. A lightweight edition of the engine containing only the most essential assets of a Mega Man game was first released on September 24, 2018.
Contents
Premade Weapons
Included with the engine are a variety of Special Weapons. These include every weapon to appear in the MaGMML series (except for Power Orb, Water Wave, Time Slow, Carry, and the MaGMML2 Contest Weapons), as well as five new weapons exclusive to the engine.
Premade Bosses
Every devkit boss as of MaGMML3 is present.
Robot Masters
Fortress Bosses
Showcase Hubs
The engine includes a hub filled with teleporters leading to multiple rooms, each demonstrating the Megamix Engine's many assets. The room files aren't included in the project directory itself, but can be imported into it from either the project's Rooms folder, or from the Levels folder in the project's Datafiles folder; doing so allows users to understand how certain assets' creation code variables work and how to set them up; this can be very useful when working with complicated gimmicks such as Shift and Maze Warps.
Example Game
Included with the engine is an example game using devkit assets. Notably, just as with Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10, a difficulty select is available, featuring radically different layouts and enemies - for example, Pharaoh Man's stage on Normal is identical to his stage in Mega Man 4, but Hard adds Birdies, a Tama, and Rock Platforms. The bosses included also gain or lose attacks based on their difficulty - a harder Gemini Man creates more copies as opposed to just one, for instance.

Example Game Boss Rush Robot Masters
If the Example Game is played on Easy or Hard, the boss rush will consist of Robot Masters not part of the initial eight. On Easy difficulty, the teleporters normally leading to Flash Man, Pharaoh Man, Honey Woman, and Chill Man will be disabled entirely, meaning Mega Man only has to fight four bosses.
